Ferio Saxophone Quartet

“It was a revelation to discover how well the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones could deliver a classical piece with such grace and subtlety.” So said the reviewer of a Ferio Saxophone Quartet concert at the Brighton Festival. Most of us will be in the same situation, having heard saxophones play big band or solo jazz, but never classical music. Are we even aware of the substantial repertoire written for saxophone quartet? Well get ready to have your musical horizons expand when you hear the Ferio saxophonists in a varied programme of music, written and arranged for saxophone quartet.

As one of the leading British saxophone quartets among the new generation of artists, the Ferio Saxophone Quartet has received enthusiastic reactions from audiences and critics alike. Since its debut recital at the prestigious Purcell Room in London, the quartet has won the Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Competition and has been both Park Lane Group Artist and St. John’sSmith Square Artist, recognizing the talent of promising young artists. They have performed in Festivals throughout the UK, including the Edinburgh Fringe and will travel to New Zealand on a concert tour in November.

Another reviewer said of Ferio Saxophone: “Exquisite pace, mood and dynamics demonstrated perfectly to sceptics like me that saxophones are beautifully musical, easily rivalling vocal or string quartets.” But don’t take his word for it. Come out and make that determination for yourself!
