Summer of Love

During the spring and summer of 1967, over 75,000 young people made their way to San Francisco to join a community of artists, musicians, poets, and radicals who would change the world. Called the Summer of Love, this gathering led to a movement which would influence popular culture through music and art, launch the natural and organic foods movement, and promote environmental awareness, civil rights and women’s rights.

Glen Burtnik’s Summer of Love Concert brings us all the iconic music of the late 1960s, from the 1967 release of The Beatles’ revolutionary album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band through to the famous Woodstock Music and Art Festival in 1969. With a horn section, strings, keyboards, percussion, background vocals and an incredible rock rhythm section, the Summer of Love experience recreates “note for note and absolutely live” the songs and the psychedelically flavoured spirit of the Woodstock Generation. You will hear music from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Procol Harum, Cream and Otis Redding.

So, get out your bell bottom jeans, tie dye shirts and caftans, mini dresses, headbands and peace signs, and bring out your inner hippy, as we recreate a moment in history where peace, love, and freedom inspired the music that changed the world.
