Bermuda Piano Festival

Launched in 2017 by Artistic Director Alex Tuchman in collaboration with the Bermuda School of Music, the Bermuda Piano Festival moved under the auspices of the Bermuda Festival in 2020.

The Bermuda Piano Festival was formed with the goal to further enrich Bermuda’s cultural landscape by presenting annual concerts featuring world-class performing artists.  In addition, the Festival inspires Bermuda’s piano students through master classes and private lessons that give students the opportunity to learn from and interact with the performing artists.

What distinguishes the Bermuda Piano Festival from other festivals in Bermuda is its focus on the piano and the diverse solo and chamber repertoire that has been composed for the instrument. Highlights of past Festival programmes include centenary tributes to Scott Joplin and Thelonious Monk (2017); Leonard Bernstein at 100 (2018); and a survey of the Russian piano literature (2019) that included solo and chamber works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Alexander Scriabin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Nikolai Medtner, Sergei Prokofiev, and Dmitri Schostakovich.

After three successful seasons of collaboration with the Bermuda School of Music, the natural progression of the Bermuda Piano Festival was to align with an organization dedicated to presenting performances for the Bermuda public.  As of 2020, the Bermuda Piano Festival is pleased to present its offerings in collaboration with The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts. Founded in 1976, The Bermuda Festival is a highlight of Bermuda’s entertainment calendar.  Its annual events cover the entire spectrum of the performing arts and feature a diverse roster of local and internationally acclaimed artists.

This summer, the Bermuda Piano Festival is excited to present its concerts online as part of the Bermuda Festival line up every Saturday at 8pm (ADT) throughout the month of August.  The performances will be available to watch free of charge on our homepage and at www.bermudapianofestival.com.  Additionally, the Festival offered a series of online master classes and private lessons with the performing artists from June 22nd – 26th.  Footage from the master classes will be available soon!

The performing artists of the Bermuda Piano Festival look forward to welcoming you to their virtual concerts and seeing you at their live performances in 2022.
